Mary and Joseph are engaged to be married.

The angel Gabriel announces to Mary that she will have a son: Jesus.

Joseph assumes legal fatherhood of Jesus.
Matthew 1:19-25
Jesus is born in a stable in Bethleem.

Joseph takes Mary and Jesus to Egypt to protect Jesus from King Herod.

The family settles in Nazareth. Jesus grows up.
